BJP rally in Giridih targets Congress on democracy and voter list changes

On November 3, 2026, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) organized a public procession in Giridih, Jharkhand, under the slogan “Save Democracy, Remove Anarchy.” The march, led by state BJP president Aditya Sahu, started at Jhanda Maidan, covered roughly 300 metres, and concluded at Tower Chowk. Hundreds of party workers and senior leaders, including opposition leader Babulal Marandi and former state BJP president Ravindra Rai, took part.

Sahu accused the Congress of collaborating with foreign forces and claimed that the party had lost public confidence after more than six decades of rule and twelve years of the Modi government. He highlighted welfare schemes delivered by the current administration as evidence of its outreach to needy citizens. Marandi added that the Congress and the broader INDIA bloc have repeatedly alleged irregularities, first in electronic voting machines and now in the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls. He asserted that no legitimate voters had been removed and that the revision aimed to protect the voting rights of individuals he described as Bangladeshi infiltrators.

ABVP march in Ranchi stresses constitutional protest

In the state capital Ranchi, the student wing Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) conducted a separate rally, beginning at Bapu Vatika and ending at Albert Ekka Chowk. The ABVP emphasized that political disputes should be resolved through democratic institutions rather than street demonstrations. A spokesperson warned against “mobocracy,” citing recent political developments in neighboring Bangladesh and Nepal as undesirable influences.

Former Jawaharlian Nehru University student leader Vaibhav Meena urged opponents of the SIR to present factual evidence through legal channels, stressing the importance of safeguarding every eligible citizen’s vote. Central working committee member Disha Ditya criticized the Congress for creating confusion around the voter‑list purification process, describing it as a democratic effort to include legitimate voters and eliminate fraudulent entries. ABVP state secretary Prakash Tuti concluded that students would focus their energy on nation‑building and cultural preservation.
