New Delhi, April 3, News views post.: The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has initiated a pre-consultation process for reviewing its existing interconnection regulations. The move aims to develop a futuristic and robust regulatory framework that aligns with the evolving telecom landscape.
TRAI has invited all stakeholders, including telecom operators, industry bodies, and consumers, to submit their issues, concerns, and suggestions regarding current interconnection rules. The inputs gathered will help shape a formal consultation paper on the subject.
Stakeholders are encouraged to submit their comments by April 16, 2025. Responses should preferably be sent electronically to adv-nsl1@trai.gov.in. For further clarifications, Shri Sameer Gupta, Advisor (Networks, Spectrum & Licensing-I), TRAI, can be contacted at +91-11-20907752.
This review process comes at a critical time when India’s telecom sector is witnessing rapid technological advancements, increased competition, and growing demand for seamless interconnectivity. The revised framework is expected to address emerging challenges and ensure a balanced, fair, and efficient interconnection regime.
Industry experts believe this consultation will pave the way for regulatory reforms that support innovation and sustainable growth in the telecom sector.
