Shimla, April 2, 2025, news views post. – Marking a significant step in India’s renewable energy journey, SJVN Green Energy Limited (SGEL), a wholly owned subsidiary of SJVN, has successfully achieved the Commercial Operation Date (COD) for 241.77 MW capacity under Phase-I of the 1000 MW Bikaner Solar Power Project.
Located in Rajasthan’s Bikaner district, this massive solar project is being developed under the CPSU Scheme – Phase II, Tranche III of the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE). The entire 1000 MW capacity is set for full commissioning by September 30, 2025. Once operational, the project will supply clean energy to Rajasthan, Jammu & Kashmir, and Uttarakhand, boosting sustainable power generation across multiple states.
Aimed at promoting domestic manufacturing, the project follows the Domestic Content Requirement (DCR) mode, aligning with the Make in India initiative. This move not only strengthens India’s solar industry but also reduces dependency on imports, fostering indigenous innovation in renewable technology.
With India’s ambitious goal of achieving 500 GW of non-fossil fuel capacity by 2030, the Bikaner Solar Power Project is poised to play a crucial role. The initiative also aligns with SJVN’s long-term vision of reaching 25,000 MW capacity by 2030 and 50,000 MW by 2040, reinforcing its commitment to a greener and more sustainable future.
This milestone underlines India’s rapid transition towards renewable energy and sets a strong precedent for future solar projects across the country.
