An urgent public safety alert has been issued by JSW Hydro Energy Limited in response to the rapidly increasing water levels in the Satluj and Baspa rivers in Himachal Pradesh’s Kinnaur district.
According to the advisory, a controlled release of water has begun from the Karcham Dam and Kuppa Barrage, due to high inflows triggered by snowmelt and changing weather patterns. This controlled discharge is expected to cause a sharp rise in downstream water levels, especially in areas surrounding Kuppa and Karcham.
🚧 Public Urged to Stay Away from River Areas
JSW Hydro has strongly warned locals, visitors, and tourists to stay away from the riverbeds and avoid all activities near the riverbanks. Sudden surges in water flow can be dangerous, and the situation is being closely monitored.
“In the interest of public safety, we request everyone to strictly avoid going near the Satluj or Baspa riverbeds until further notice,” said the Head of Safety and Dam Safety Officer, JSW Hydro Energy Ltd.
