Shimla . News views post.– In a shocking revelation, police investigations into Vimal Negi’s death have uncovered that he was on leave for 27 days over the past six months. This information surfaced after examining office records and biometric data. The Himachal Pradesh Power Corporation uses a biometric attendance system, but it remains unclear whether Negi was on personal leave or official tours during these days.
Sources close to the investigation indicate that every leave application submitted by Negi in the past six months was duly approved. The corporation follows an online leave application process, ensuring transparency. However, authorities are now probing whether Negi was made to work even on his sanctioned leave days.
To establish this, police have retrieved his call detail records, which suggest that Negi was not present in the Shimla office during his leave period. The investigation aims to verify all allegations and uncover the truth behind his death.
Reports suggest that Negi was under stress and often stayed in the office until late in the evening, around 8 to 8:30 PM. However, police are searching for solid evidence that can stand in court, especially if there was undue pressure or coercion against him.
Negi’s family and employee unions have accused Power Corporation’s then-Managing Director Harikesh Meena, Director (Electrical) Deshraj, and Director Shivam Pratap Singh of mentally harassing him and pressuring him into unethical activities.
Shimla Police have registered an FIR Harikesh Meena, Deshraj, and Shivam Pratap Singh. Notably, Deshraj’s bail plea was rejected by the Himachal Pradesh High Court on March 26, but the police have yet to apprehend him. Meanwhile, he has now approached the Supreme Court, with a hearing expected on April 7.
On the other hand, Sunil Grover, former MD of the Electricity Board’s SLDC and a patron of the All India Engineers Federation, made significant disclosures during his testimony before Additional Chief Secretary (Revenue) Omkar Sharma, who is investigating the case. He claimed that Negi was never granted leave. However, police findings contradict this statement.
As the investigation is still ongoing, drawing conclusions prematurely would be hasty. A clearer picture will emerge once the inquiry is complete, potentially resolving the mystery behind Negi’s tragic death.
