: Himachal Pradesh National Law University (HPNLU), Shimla, commemorated the 134th birth anniversary of Bharat Ratna Dr. B. R. Ambedkar with a solemn and spirited observance on its campus today. Led by Hon’ble Vice Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) Priti Saxena, the event served as both a tribute and a call to action for students to embrace the values enshrined in the Indian Constitution.
The ceremony began with a floral tribute to Dr. Ambedkar’s portrait, followed by thought-provoking reflections on his enduring contributions to social justice and constitutional democracy. Students and faculty engaged in discussions highlighting the contemporary relevance of Ambedkar’s vision in shaping an inclusive legal and social framework.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof. (Dr.) Saxena emphasized the role of legal education in driving social change. “As future legal professionals, our students must carry forward Dr. Ambedkar’s ideals of justice, equality, and fraternity—not just in the courtroom, but in society at large,” she stated.
What set this year’s celebration apart was a student-led initiative: a short documentary screening and an interactive session titled “Law for All: Dr. Ambedkar’s Legacy in Today’s India,” encouraging discourse on access to justice for marginalized communities.
The University also announced the launch of an upcoming legal literacy campaign targeting rural areas of Himachal Pradesh—further cementing its commitment to inclusivity, constitutional morality, and community empowerment.
HPNLU continues to position itself not just as a center of legal education, but as a hub for meaningful dialogue and action rooted in constitutional values.
