The Youth Red Cross Society (YRC) at Himachal Pradesh National Law University (HPNLU), Shimla, successfully hosted the Model United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) Conference 2025. The event, themed “Addressing Emerging Non-Scheduled Synthetic Drugs and Implementing Alternatives to Conviction or Punishment”, was part of the “Chase Dreams, Not Drugs” campaign.
The conference opened with speeches from Prof. (Dr.) Priti Saxena, Vice Chancellor of HPNLU; Dr. Amit Sachdeva, Assistant Professor at IGMC Shimla; and Prof. (Dr.) S.S. Jaswal, Registrar of HPNLU. The dignitaries emphasized multilateral cooperation, community-based rehabilitation, and youth-led initiatives in addressing the global drug crisis.
Over the course of the conference, delegates from various academic institutions engaged in productive discussions, culminating in the adoption of a Resolution on Global Drug Policy Reform. The resolution called for enhanced preventive education, international intelligence sharing, and investment in rehabilitation infrastructure.
The conference concluded with an awards ceremony recognizing delegates for their outstanding contributions in diplomacy and policy development. This event further highlighted YRC’s commitment to fostering global awareness and action against the synthetic drug epidemic.
