Shimla, Feb 21
The Sukhu government in Himachal Pradesh on Tuesday took an unprecedented decision by scrapping the Himachal Pradesh Service Selection Commission (HPSSC)after finding a deep rooted disease of corruption untreatable in this institution which was assigned the job of selecting youth for the government services.
During the previous BJP regime youth complained of paper leaks many a times where they alleged that many employees of the HPSSC were involved in the alleged scams. The present Congress government soon after taking oath was keeping a closed eye on the suspected unfair activities of some employees of the Hamirpur Commission and anti-corruption and vigilance department of Himachal Pradesh police raided it on December 24 arresting some alleged scamsters. When investigation agency found cankerous rot in the entire selection process with leaking many papers, the government decided to suspend the body on Dec 26 .
“The Himachal Pradesh anti-corruption police were probing the scams involving leaking of many exams papers and a report was provided to the state government for further action. The report unraveled many layers of many paper scams confirmed during the last 3 years and we could see that the rot was from top to down in this selection institution and decided to rescind the body keeping in mind the future of unemployed youth,” reveals Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Thakur.
The Chief Minister also said that we have ordered that the pending selection in processes for various jobs of this dissolved body would be completed by Himachal Pradesh Public Service Commission based in Shimla.
“We are scheming to raise an institution for the fair selection of employees in the future to upkeep the faith of jobless youth in the government, and are examining the functioning of National testing agency with other bodies,” said the Himachal Pradesh CM.
The Chief Minister had also confessed few days ago that over 60 percent of the exams papers held by the Hamirpur HPSSC,were leaked in the past and has maligned the reputation of the previous government which did bother to catch the paper pimps nurses and nurtured by such corrupt institution.
He also said emphatically that those involved in the paper leaking scams would not be spared and sent to jail.
