Kinnaur, Bisheshar negi:
The family members of late Vimal Negi, GM of Himachal Power Corporation, have raised serious concerns over the ongoing police investigation into his mysterious death. Accusing the authorities of deliberately concealing key evidence, the family claimed that the probe is being misdirected to protect certain individuals.
Kiran Negi, wife of the deceased, expressed her anguish over the way the identification process was handled. “We should have been called to the spot where Vimal’s body was found, but instead, we were summoned to AIIMS the following day,” she said. Kiran further stated that her husband always carried his ATM and Aadhaar cards, both of which were missing, along with his mobile phone.
In a startling revelation, Kiran alleged that a pen drive found at the scene was never disclosed to the family, suggesting an attempt to suppress crucial digital evidence. “It is evident that efforts were made early on to destroy or hide evidence that could potentially expose the truth. We fear this is an attempt to shield powerful individuals involved in the case,” she added.
Drawing parallels to the infamous Gudiya case, where the police faced severe backlash for mishandling the investigation, Kiran warned that the authorities may once again find themselves in the dock if transparency is not ensured in this case.
She also revealed that the initial complaint had clearly named an individual, Deshraj, and had made direct references to the MD position. Yet, the FIR conveniently replaced the names with the term “unknown persons,” raising suspicions about the integrity of the investigation from the very beginning.
“The case is becoming increasingly complex, straddling the lines between suicide and homicide. The family, and indeed the public, are losing faith in both the government and the police,” Kiran said.
Sources close to the family have confirmed that they will be approaching the Himachal Pradesh High Court on Monday to seek CBI intervention in the matter.
