This year, Indian Army personnel stationed at the nation’s borders celebrated Raksha Bandhan in a heartwarming and memorable way. High up in the Himalayas and across remote frontier regions, brave soldiers received rakhis tied by schoolchildren who had travelled from distant villages and towns, along with heartfelt wishes for their safety and long life.

In Himachal Pradesh’s Rampur, Kinnaur and Spiti regions, schoolgirls tied rakhis to the soldiers, reinforcing the cherished bond of brothers and sisters. Students from Government School Chango, Lari School, Gue Monastery, Pioneer Public School Rampur, Government School Averi Patti and Army Tripix Public School Pooh participated in the celebrations. From Pune, SPM Public English Medium School also sent hundreds of rakhis and greeting cards to the border posts.

While tying the sacred thread, some students became emotional, saying, “Brother, you protect us; we pray for you.” Many soldiers, too, were moved to tears. One soldier expressed, “We may be far from home, but this love makes us feel like we are with our family.”

The celebrations once again proved that no matter how high the mountains or how distant the borders, the bond of love and unity between the people of India and its protectors remains unbreakable.
