– The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) proudly announces the grand and successful conclusion of its historic initiative, “Great Indian Coastal Cyclothon 2025”, held under the theme “Safe Shores, Prosperous India.” The closing ceremony took place at Kanyakumari near the Vivekananda Rock Memorial and the iconic statue of Tamil philosopher Thiruvalluvar.
The event saw the esteemed presence of the Director General of CISF as the chief guest, while a large number of enthusiastic locals gathered to cheer for the CISF cyclists.
A Journey of Dedication and Endurance
The Great Indian Coastal Cyclothon was flagged off on March 7, 2025, by Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah from the Rajaditya Chola CISF Regional Training Center, Takkolam, Ranipet District, Tamil Nadu.
A total of 125 dedicated CISF cyclists, including 14 female personnel, embarked on this remarkable journey, covering 6,553 km across 11 coastal states and UTs in just 25 days. More than 1,200 participants joined at different stages, reflecting strong public support for this initiative.
This extraordinary expedition received immense encouragement from CISF units in coastal regions and key support from various state and central agencies. Several grand receptions and flag-off ceremonies were held at major coastal cities and landmarks, including:
- Paradip Port
- Konark Sun Temple
- Gateway of India, Mumbai
- Visakhapatnam
- Mangalore
- Chennai
- Cochin and Puducherry
These events significantly amplified the reach and impact of the Cyclothon’s core message.
A Mission Beyond Cycling: Strengthening Coastal Security & Awareness
The Cyclothon aimed not just at endurance and outreach but at honoring and empowering coastal communities as the “Sentinels of the Shores.” Their vital role in coastal security and intelligence-sharing was a central focus, encouraging them to act as the “eyes and ears” of security forces to safeguard India’s maritime interests.
The mission also sought to educate coastal populations about potential security threats, including:
- Smuggling of drugs, arms, and explosives
- Illegal intrusions
- The importance of environmental conservation in fragile coastal ecosystems

Additionally, cultural performances showcasing regional art forms, traditional attire, music, dance, and martial arts created a deeper appreciation for coastal heritage.
