Shimla, June 22
Taxi drivers and owners staging a protest near Deputy Commissioner’s office in Shimla on Thursday , shouting slogans against local administration to put pressure on the police get their grievances addressed.
Four days ago two groups of taxi unions had a feud on petty issue which is being politicised and regionalised by few political leaders of Congress and BJP to harvest political dividends.
Two and three days ago these feuding groups of taxi unions had protested against each other to put pressure on the government to address their clashing issues.
This fight between taxi operators is being exploited by political parties and leaders for their own benefits. The basic economic issue of living and livelihood is being hijacked by politicians to give it a regional and divisive color, using taxi drivers as their tools for political ends.
