The NDRF( National Disaster Response Force) team rescued 51 people marooned in the flood hit panchayats of Shehnu Gouni and Kholanala in Mandi district today afternoon, said a spokesman of the 14th Bn NDRF.
The incessant Monsoon rains devastated various parts of Himachal Pradesh triggering flash floods, overflowing rivers, cloud bursts, landlines and snapping of roads.
“Following heavy rains in Mandi district the 14 Bn NDRF daredevils rescued 51 stranded people from Cloud burst incidents site Village Shehnu Gouni and Kholanala Panchayat in Mandi district in Himachal Pradesh,” said spokesman of the NDRF.
He further said that we were called by the SDM Bali Chowki Distt Mandi to assist people trapped in the Cloud burst incidents in Gram Panchayat Kholanal, near Hanogi Mata Temple Distt Mandi HP and 300 people are trapped in incident,”said NDRF.
NDRF Team promptly responded and left towards the incident site from Seraj Bhavan Kullu.
Due to landslide further road was blocked at many places NDRF team moved on foot from Hanogi to incident site Village-Kholanala in Mandi district, about 15 kms far from the spot.
The NDRF teams walked about 8kms distance towards incident site and reached Village Shehnu Gouni at 1520hrs and found that there were people ( Male-16, Female-20, Children-15, Ttl-51) trapped in flood waters triggered by the Cloud burst.
The expert Team arduously rescued them and shifted to Hanogi Village with sub team of NDRF, added the NDRF spokesman.
Remaining team with SDM, Tehsildar and BDO of Bali Chowki moved towards incident site Village- Kholanal, in Mandi district on foot and reached there at 1800 and confirmed that stranded people have shifted to safe locations.
The NDRF has saved hundreds of people in Himachal Pradesh after the ferocious Monsoon unleashed plenty of miseries on this tiny state this year.
