In a significant move to strengthen healthcare in remote Himalayan villages, the Indian Army’s Tripeaks Brigade handed over two state-of-the-art ambulances to the civil administration in Karcham, Himachal Pradesh. This initiative, undertaken as part of Operation Sadbhavana, aims to enhance emergency medical response in the high-altitude villages of Chitkul and Charang in Kinnaur district.

The ambulance handover ceremony was attended by key dignitaries including Hon’ble Revenue Minister Mr. Jagat Singh Negi, Deputy Commissioner Dr. Amit Sharma (IAS), Chief Medical Officer Dr. Sonam Negi, and local village leaders. Their presence highlighted the collaborative efforts between the Indian Army and civil administration in addressing healthcare challenges in difficult terrain.

Speaking at the event, officials acknowledged the urgent need for better emergency healthcare infrastructure in border regions and praised the Indian Army’s unwavering support in promoting rural well-being. The newly deployed ambulances are expected to significantly improve response times during medical emergencies and support the health needs of the local population.

This development aligns with the goals of the Government of India’s Vibrant Villages Programme, reinforcing the spirit of inclusive growth and civil-military partnership in strategic border areas.

By supporting local communities through such humanitarian efforts, the Indian Army continues to play a vital role not just in national security, but also in grassroots nation-building.
