Shimla, June 27
The very arrival of the Monsoon in Himachal Pradesh has battered the state killing 15 people, 3 more still missing in various parts of the state with 27 peoples injured, informed the state disaster management department here late evening.
“The Monsoon hit the state on June 24 spreading widely across the state with torrential rains triggering landslides, swelling rivers, damaging roads, water supply schemes and disrupting power transmission. During the last 4 days 312 domesticated animals too very killed. 15 people lost their lives and 3 more are still missing,” said Onkar Sharma, secretary revenue and disaster department in Himachal Pradesh.
According to the revenue department assessment properties including housing and sheds worth Rs 164.24cr were damaged during the last 4 days.
A spokesman of the state government said that heavy rains have caused extensive damage to various government schemes disrupting 1033 water supply schemes and closing 275 roads with many power outages at many places in the state.
The torrential rains set mountains crumbling with bolders and rocks piling on the roads, river water reached above danger mark with floods in the catchment areas.
The state tourism department issue an advisory to the tourists to avoid travelling in disaster prone regions till heavy rains stop.
The Shimla regional IMD have forecast rains to continue for next 4 days though orange warning have ended today.
The state government said that the disasters are being managed and disruption in various services would be restored during next two days with many services already becoming normal.
