One of two pilots killed in MIG-21 plane crash in Balmer in Rajasthan hails from Mandi’s Sandhol village in Himachal Pradesh, confirmed DC Mandi Arindham Choudhary.
Fifteen days ago, the pilot wing commander Mohit Rana had paid visit to his native village in Mandi district. His father Ram Prakash Rana who is a retired Colonel, lives in Chandigarh.
The plane crash occurred on Thursday at 9.10pm during a training sortie near Pakistan border and the second pilot named Advitiya Bal beloged to Jammu.
Himachal Pradesh CM Jai Ram Thakur expressed grief over the death of Wing Commander Mohit Rana and prayed to the God to give strength and courage to the bereaved family.
This MIG-21 plane was in use for training the pilots by IAF, and airfighter plane experts have raised questions many times in the past about the safety of pilots flying inthese outdated planes.
The entire Himachal Pradesh is drowned in the untimely death of young fighter plane pilot wing commander Mohit Rana, some experts asking questions that in advanced countries such reckless institutionally ignored plane accidents occur but very rarely.
