Himachal Apple Farmers’ Protest: Agitating farmers in thousands from across many parts of Himachal have reached capital city Shimla to raise their long pending demands, roads blocked near State secretariat with police shutting two main gates on both sides of the ring road to block entry in the temple of power. Farmers are shouting slogans, rhyming their demands in folk wrap songs, attacking Jai Ram government for leaving farmers to the mercy of markets and middlemen, besides imposing unbearable taxes on apple and vegetables related goods and services. Costs of production is on the steep rise but farmers incomes are shrinking, finding it very hard for them to make both ends meet.
