Kalpa, July 7
The China bordering Kinnaur district on Friday experienced earthquake tremors, shaking houses in many places, said Shimla IMD.
The earthquake of 3.6 magnitude having it’s epicentre at latitude of 32.43 and longitude of 78.38 occurred in Kinnaur district today, informed IMD Shimla.
This quake hit at the depth of 5 mtres, releasing immense amount of energy in the Kinnaur Himalayas which otherwise falls in the very sensitive seismic zone 4 of the country .
Local people of Kinnaur district often protest the unscientific and unsustainable model of development for building roads and harnessing hydel power opted by various governments both in centre and state.
